Raise School Funding- About us

 

Raise School Funding was initially created on behalf of my IB Global Politics more specifically the political engagement. I have now completed this engagement by sending off my final draft of the essay, though I want to continue this campaign. I have met so many like-minded, passionate and amazing groups and individuals through the 6 months we have been running. I look forward to working with them more and connecting with others. I am extremely passionate about seeing schools being provided not only with the funding they need but what they deserve. For too long has the government let them down and that needs to change sooner than later. Which is why I started this campaign to bring like-minded individuals in our mission in showing and bringing the government to make a change. These students are our future and deserve to have an education where they can explore all different areas and not be restricted by the original lessons. 

Education plays a vital part in the development of any pupil but schools are restricted to what they can give due to the lack of funding causing large budget shortfalls in many schools. There have been cases where schools have had to take out creative subjects such as languages, music, drama etc to cover the costs of other areas. As famously said by “John Dewey “Education is not preparation for life, Education is life itself” So by schools having no resort but to remove these types of lessons is completely unfair because as it takes away the opportunity to explore this area and develop their skills. Not only are they missing out it can also be considered to affect their ability to express themselves. It is scientifically proven that these areas help with mental health, as we know, this at a low point across all young people. So these subjects or clubs are more important than ever and every student should have access to them. Which again is why the government needs to properly fund schools. 

Raise School Funding is here in an attempt to make a change so that our future as the ability to access education; where they can get more 1-1 support from their teachers due to classroom sizes being reduced,  have wider variety subjects or clubs and provided with all resources needed. We want the best for all students so that they can develop to their full potential without the drawbacks that come from budget shortfalls.
